Hinckley housing plans could create thousands of regeneration jobs

Plans lodged in a Leicestershire town could see the creation of several hundred new homes in the area - potentially creating thousands of housing jobs.

A meeting of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council on March 16th will debate the proposals, which include plans 50 new affordable apartments on the former Flude manufacturing site, reports the Hinckley Times.

Council leader Stuart Bray said: "There is a lot to offer and a lot of potential for developers, as well as creating jobs and housing. I welcome the developments, particularly Flude which is all affordable housing so that's good news."

Other projects on the table include demolishing the Moat House care home and replacing it with a new 120-bed development.

Goodmans, a local construction firm, has already announced plans to create around 1,500 new regeneration jobs as it redevelops a former factory site at Sketchley Brook.

Hundreds of positions could also be created in Torquay, where plans for a £6.8 million business centre are to be discussed by councilors and local residents.
